Campari was invented by Gaspare Campari in 1860 after decades of mixology and experimenting with bitters; in Novara, Italy – 30 miles west of Milan.Once settling on the very secretive recipe, Gaspare opened a Wine Shop in Italy’s oldest shopping mall, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, located in the heart of Milan, steps from the Duomo.Eventually the Wine Shop transformed into Camparino Galleria Aperitivo Bar in 1915.Aperitivo’s are a part of Italian culture between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. After work and before dinner, Campari is King. It is a time to relax, visit with friends and prepare for dinner. So, light salty snacks are best. Potato chips or salted nuts go very well. Crisp and not too sweet on a hot summer day! This is our favorite Campari Spritz.
