White Port

White Port

A few years ago we discovered White Port and now it is an entertaining favourite.   We have been able to buy Fonseca and Taylor Fladgate White Port in Western Canada for a very reasonable price.  Both come from grapes grown on the Upper Slopes of the Douro Valley, Portugal, sweet and straw coloured.

White Port

Serve it chilled straight up in a wine glass or as they serve it at the Taylor Fladgate, with Tonic and mint leaves. We enjoy it either way, depending on whether it’s a hot summer or cooler fall day, when the ever handy mint is growing on the deck.
Enjoy it as a Digestif straight up, after a meal; or the Tonic cocktail as an aperitif before the meal.
