Sloppy Joe’s

Sloppy Joe’s

This is a southwestern take on Sloppy Joe’s, still spicy but not the traditional style.  The girls (grandchildren) prefer less spice, so we make two batches, one for the adults and one for the kids (recipes below).  Invite some friends over and have some fun.

Rao’s

Rao’s

Our favorite bottled pasta sauce, hands down!  I read an interesting article about Rao’s in Vanity Fair, Oct 10, 2016 and we were delighted when the local Italian Market started selling jars of their pasta sauces this fall. This is our “go to” fast food!

Buttermilk Brined Turkey Breast

Buttermilk Brined Turkey Breast

Buttermilk and fine Sea Salt team up to create a delicious, moist turkey breast.  Buttermilk is not as acidic as lemon or vinegars and it adheres to the meat, making for crispy skin and tender meat.

Barbecued Chicken and Roasted Vegetables

Barbecued Chicken and Roasted Vegetables

The barbeque sauce makes a difference!  Sweet or bold original styles will influence the wine paired with the meal. One of our favorite barbeque sauces is Stubb’s Gluten Free Original, and the story of “Stubb” is truly inspiring.

Creamy Saffron Pasta

Creamy Saffron Pasta

Saffron is one of the most precious and expensive spices in the world.  You know its subtle flavour when you taste it.  Letting saffron bloom in warm liquid before adding it to any dish brings out the color and aroma.

Caesar Salad

Caesar Salad

Caesar salad is one of the most well known and loved salads in the world! We love the Umami flavours of the anchovies, lemon and hearty parmesan with a French Chardonnay!

Scallop and Brie Pasta

Scallop and Brie Pasta

This is creamy and delicious served with a salad and crisp white wine.  We like the smaller Bay Scallops that generally take 4 – 5 minutes to cook total.  Bay Scallops are generally sweeter and more tender than the larger Sea Scallops.  They work perfectly in seafood casserole

Brie and Camembert Tasting

Brie and Camembert Tasting

Who hasn’t dreamed of eating a soft Brie or Camembert with a warm baguette in the French Countryside?  It is true, they taste better sitting on the grass somewhere in France, but we can bring a bit of that to our lives, in or outdoors., wherever
