Cedar Creek Estate Winery
Cedar Creek Estate Wineries is one the original 8 wineries in B.C., founded in 1987. The Fitzpatrick Family managed the winery until 2014 when it was purchased by the VMF Estates Group (von Mandl Family), owners of Mission Hill Family Estate Winery.
Cedar Creek Estate Winery, Kelowna, British Columbia
Cedar Creek Winery is not far from where we live, and one of several favorite stops nearly every summer, (except for a couple summers during an extensive renovation.)
The Tasting Room along with Home Block Restaurant now face towards Okanagan Lake. A huge lake that is 135 km long, between 4 and 5 km wide and offers the most incredible views, along with watersports galore during warm months.
The meals have been memorable, paired with estate wines. Cedar Creek has won best red wine in Canada for their “2012 Platinum Block 2 Pinot Noir,” best white wine in Canada for their “Platinum Block 3 Riesling” and numerous gold medals.
We’ve enjoyed wine club “launch” parties, showcasing the shipments’ wines paired with perfect appetizers. There are 2 levels of membership, lots of perks and flexibility.
Most recently we tried the Small Bites option at Home Block Restaurant from 3 – 4:40 p.m., walk ins only. There was a set small plates menu and both a white and red wine to choose from along with a local draft beer and cider.
Very casual, yet top notch food and service. Mike tried the Crispy Anchovy Olives and gave them rave reviews. Then we shared the Cheese Board, gluten on the side. A draft beer to start after a long bike ride then onto to a lovely Pinot Noir.
There are lots of other things to do at Cedar Creek – winemaker dinners, sunset yoga, private tours, and events.
All in all, it’s a friendly winery, with great food, wine, and atmosphere. And the bonus is a pretty drive along Lakeshore Road, in South Kelowna.
